There is some relief from pollution in and around the country’s capital Delhi today i.e. October 24. Although this relief is insufficient, compared to the previous days, there has been a slight decline in the Delhi AQI compared to Wednesday. At the same time, the process of political accusations and counter-accusations over rising air pollution is also in full swing. Grape 2 is also implemented to prevent air pollution in Delhi.
As per the latest update by the Central Pollution Control Board, the average AQI of Delhi was measured at 332 around 8 am today and the AQI of most areas is also above 300. However, today the figure has not exceeded 400 anywhere.
The air also started deteriorating in NCR.

What is the condition of air pollution in Delhi-NCR? See special coverage.
How is air quality measured?
If the AQI of an area is between zero and 50, then the AQI is considered “good”, if the AQI is between 51 and 100, it is considered “satisfactory”, if the AQI of a place is between 101 and 200, it is se It is considered ‘moderate’, if the AQI of a place is between 201 and 300. If the AQI of that area is considered ‘bad’. If the AQI is between 301 and 400, it is considered to be in the “very bad” category and if the AQI is between 401 and 500, it is considered to be in the “severe” category. Air pollution can cause many types of diseases. On this basis, restrictions are imposed on the grape category in Delhi-NCR. We tell you that after the implementation of Grape-2, 5 important restrictions have also been imposed.
What is grape?
Grap means GRAP. The full form of GRAP is Graded Response Action Plan. This is a government plan, which has been drawn up against the rising pollution in Delhi-NCR. Through this plan pollution is controlled. Actually, it has many stages and these stages also increase with the increase in pollution. As the phases increase, so do restrictions in Delhi.
GRAP has 4 steps
- When the air in Delhi deteriorates from 201 to 300 AQI, the first phase is implemented.
- After this, if the air worsens and the AQI reaches between 301 and 400, the second phase is implemented.
- If the air becomes very bad, that is, the AQI exceeds 400, then the third phase is carried out.
- When the situation worsens, the fourth level of GRAP is implemented.
These restrictions are implemented under Grape-2 in Delhi-NCR
- The operation of diesel generators will be prohibited.
- Parking fees will be increased to reduce the use of private vehicles.
- There will be mechanical sweeping/vacuuming and water spraying on roads daily.
- CNG-electric bus and metro service will be increased.
- The RWAs will provide heaters to their security guards so that they do not burn garbage, wood or coal for warmth.
- Generators that run on natural gas, biogas and LPG may operate.
- Generators with a capacity of more than 800 kwa will be able to operate only if they are modernized.
