New Delhi: More than 4 lakh participants took part in the National Teaching Week. Providing information on this, the Central Government said that more than four lakh government employees prioritized professional development by devoting at least four hours to learning during the recently concluded National Learning Week.
The Center further said that for a week from October 19 to 27, the Indian government workforce came together for an extraordinary journey of learning and development through the National Learning Week initiative ‘Karmayogi Saptah’.
“It was not just about completing courses, it was a movement that brought together officials from different departments in their common pursuit of professional excellence and personal growth,” said the statement issued by the Ministry of Personnel. “Through Karmayogi Week, government employees, from the juniors to senior officials, came forward and committed to enriching their skills and mindset for a changing world.”
The impact of Karmayogi Week is evident in its figures: with 45.6 lakh course registrations, 32.6 lakh courses completed and over 38 lakh learning hours, the event set a precedent for impactful learning initiatives at large scale. 4.3 lakh participants spent at least four hours learning this week, while 37,000 Group A executives, as well as many senior executives, prioritized professional development.
“More than 23,800 people dedicated four or more hours to new learning,” the statement said. The Joint Secretary and senior officials also participated. “This shows that commitment to learning starts at the top.”
It was further said that at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India’s first public HR competency model – the Karmayogi Competency Model. It draws inspiration from indigenous knowledge systems and details key principles and qualities that all Karmayogi officials should adopt and implement in their workplaces.
The statement said that for participants, Karmayogi Week felt less like a normal government event but more like a celebration of knowledge. The statement said staff at all levels across various ministries took this opportunity to step out of their daily routines, not only to learn but also to foster a culture of curiosity and engagement.
