State Investigation Agency to investigate terrorism
To fight terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Home Affairs in November 2021 approved the formation of a State Investigation Agency (SIA) similar to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The SIA acts as a special nodal investigation agency, carrying out prompt and effective investigations of terrorism-related cases and coordinating with other agencies. It was formed separately from the CID and other agencies in the Union Territory.
The NIA had conducted raids across the country.
The National Investigation Agency had raided Al Qaeda hideouts across the country on Monday. The NIA had conducted raids in six states, including Jammu and Kashmir. According to the investigating agency, this action was carried out in places suspected of being linked to Al Qaeda. In this raid, the investigating agency found numerous documents, mobile phones and other electronic devices related to banking transactions. This NIA raid is part of the investigation of a case registered in 2023.
