There was an uproar following the death of a young man in Semaria, Rewa. On Monday afternoon, the relatives of the deceased created a fuss and blocked the road by placing the body and made serious accusations against the local police. Relatives allege that their son has been murdered. With the arrest of the accused, the family members demanded the suspension of the police station in charge. The matter escalated again on Tuesday morning and the Semaria market was completely closed. Family members and Congressional leaders continued to take action and stood firm in the lawsuit. When no conclusion was reached even after 24 hours, Congress leaders prepared a pyre at the protest site and threatened to commit suicide.

Family allegation: murder with a knife

The deceased’s relatives, who were sitting on the dharna, said there was a land dispute with 35-year-old Ajay Kevat’s aunt. In the same vein, Ajay Kevat went around the police station defending his aunt. Hanuman Singh of the village had threatened him several times in connection with the land dispute, following which the family complained to the police station, but the police did not listen to their complaint. The family members allege that he went to the police station 5 times but the police did not take any action.

The relatives allege that Hanuman Singh killed Ajay by stabbing him. He said that around 3 pm on Monday, Ajay Kevat was attacked with a knife near his house and was injured. After the incident, the criminal fled the scene. Ajay Kevat came out of the house injured and later died.

Congress was packed with support

When Semaria MLA Abhay Mishra and other Congress leaders came to know about the incident, they supported the family of the deceased. They all blocked the Semaria market and remained firm in demanding action. The same Monday night, Congress leaders had warned that the semi-finals would be closed on Tuesday in protest. All of Semaría was closed on Monday, even after this, when things did not work, the congressmen prepared a pyre at the protest site itself and warned about immolation.

Meanwhile, on this matter, Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said that the accused was arrested after the incident. It was explained to the people sitting on the dharna, but despite this they remain firm in protesting. Given the situation, police officers have been deployed to the scene.
