Mumbai Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized NCP-SP leader Anil Deshmukh after retired judge Kailash Chandiwal’s statement that there is no clean chit. In a strong attack on former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that NCP-SCP leaders have now been exposed. He was referring to an interview by retired judge Chandiwal, who had said that he had not given a single clean chit to Deshmukh. Fadnavis told a rally in Narkhed that the court granted bail to Deshmukh due to his illness. The Deputy Chief Minister said whoever Deshmukh was protecting in this case has been captured.
Fadnavis’ attack was in response to an interview with retired judge Kailash Chandiwal, who had investigated allegations made against Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh of allegedly raking in Rs 100 crore monthly from bars, restaurants and others. Target stores. In an interview with a regional channel, the retired judge said that he had not used the word “clean note” in the report. No adequate evidence was presented to the commission, he said.
Retired judge Chandiwal’s statement is important because Deshmukh has alleged that the report is not being made public because he was given a clean chit. The Chandiwal Commission was constituted after the sensational allegation made by former Mumbai top cop Parambir Singh alleging that Deshmukh aimed to extort Rs 100 crore every month from the owners of dance bars and permit halls in Mumbai. Soon after being released from jail after being granted bail, Deshmukh said the government deliberately avoided making Justice Chandiwal’s report public.
Justice Chandiwal further said in the interview that he had criticized Parambir Singh for backtracking on his earlier position. “They gave me no evidence (of the alleged target),” the retired judge said in an interview. I never gave a clean note. Both Singh and Sachin Waje did not produce the evidence despite having it. If they had been introduced, something could have happened.
Further, Chandiwal said that though Waze had mentioned the names of Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar in the affidavit, they were not recorded even after knowing the intention. The report never used the term clean chit, but said no evidence was presented. Fired cops Waze, Parambir and Deshmukh meet and then Waze changes his evidence. Chandiwal said it was like ‘Teri bhi chup, meri bhi chup’. No pressure can be imposed to produce evidence.
The content of the report presented cannot be digested by any government, said the retired judge. Chandiwal said during the interview that I did not record the names of Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar. I also told this to Waze. Waze and Deshmukh tried to include Fadnavis. But I didn’t record it. This was a clear attempt to gain publicity. But I didn’t allow it.
