Dominica’s highest national honor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi: The government of the Caribbean country Dominica has said it will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country’s highest national award, the ‘Dominica Honor Award’, this month. This award is presented to Prime Minister Modi for his contribution to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his dedication to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
PM Modi to receive Dominica’s highest honor
The President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvany Burton, will present the award during the India-CARICOM Summit to be held in Georgetown, Guyana, from November 19 to 21, the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica said in a statement. “In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi supplied Dominica with 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, a touching gift that allows Dominica to support its other Caribbean neighbors,” the statement said. Dominica in healthcare, education and information technology under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, as well as its role in promoting climate resilient manufacturing initiatives and sustainable development globally.

The statement quoted Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as saying that the award is an expression of Dominica’s gratitude for Prime Minister Modi’s solidarity with Dominica and the wider region. “Prime Minister Modi has been a true partner to Dominica, especially in our time of need amid the global health crisis,” Skerritt said in the statement. It is an honor to present you with Dominica’s highest national honor, as a symbol of our gratitude for your support and as a reflection of the strong ties between our countries. “We look forward to building on this partnership and advancing our shared vision of progress and resilience.”
