Dharmbir Rana said that the Municipal Corporation has been collecting garbage for the last two years, while garbage collectors have been providing their services for a long time. He said discontent among garbage collectors has increased due to the corporation adding garbage charge to the property tax without consent. Rana also said that garbage collectors have an important contribution in improving the ranking of Chandigarh, and if such actions continue to be taken against them, the city’s ranking and status may go down.
The society demanded that the measures implemented temporarily in residential areas be made permanent, so that city residents and garbage collectors do not suffer any inconvenience. The meeting called on officials to improve anti-labor policies and provide adequate solutions to the problems of garbage collectors, so that their future can be secured. In this general meeting, other members of the society like Karm Singh Ghanwari, Madan Malik, Vedprakash Rana, Sanju Lohat, Deepak Nepali, Mohan Lal Chanwaria, Naresh Kagda, Bhajan Lal, Ranbir Singh Ghuggi, Surjit Singh, Surendra Saroha, Surendra Kala, Bal Kishan and Rahul Kangra along with many others were present.
