12 rockets each from each production agency were tested from two in-service Pinaka launchers upgraded by the launcher production agencies. The precision strike version of the Pinaka multiple launch rocket system is a completely indigenous weapons system.

From the launch of the Pinaka to the impact on the target, the radar, electro-optical guidance system and telemetry system, etc. were monitored. All systems of this rocket successfully exceeded the established standards and destroyed the target with the greatest precision. This rocket is named after the bow of Lord Shiva, ‘Pinak’.

The Pinaka rocket system launches 12 rockets in 44 seconds. That means a rocket is launched approximately every 4 seconds. From this 214 caliber launcher, 12 Pinaka rockets are fired one after another. That means this is the best weapon for turning the enemy’s hideout into a graveyard. The range of the rocket launcher can vary from 7 km to the nearest target and can destroy the enemy who is 90 km away.

There are three variants of rocket launchers. MK-1 can attack up to 45 KM, MK-2 launcher can attack up to 90 KM and MK-3 launcher (under construction) can attack up to 120 KM. The length of this launcher ranges from 16 feet 3 inches to 23 feet 7 inches. Its diameter is 8.4 inches.

High explosive fragmentation (HMX) weapons, cluster bombs, anti-personnel, anti-tank and land mines can be installed on the Pinaka rocket fired from this launcher. These rockets are capable of lifting weapons weighing up to 100 kilometers. The speed of the Pinaka rocket is 5757.70 KM/Hr. That means it attacks at a speed of 1.61 KM in one second.
