Two counterfeit ticket checkers (TCs) who were checking tickets of passengers in trains have been arrested in Tripura. Both of them were cheating passengers in the name of ticket verification on the Dimapur-Agartala railway section.
The incident came to light when Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel Ajit Kumar Sarkar and Anjan Paul, traveling in the passenger train 05676 Dimapur-Agartala, saw a suspicious person, Hussain Ali, checking the tickets of the passengers. RPF personnel considered his activities suspicious and asked him to show his identification document.
Initially, Hussain Ali described himself as a newly appointed ticket control employee, but after rigorous interrogation he admitted that he did not have any valid identity documents. He was arrested immediately after his fake identity was confirmed in a cross-check with the ticket checking master of Dimapur.

In the second incident, another fake ticket inspector, Kaushik Sarkar, was caught by Subrajit Paul, a senior ticket checking employee, in passenger train 05675 plying on the same railway stretch. Kaushik claimed that he had just been appointed in the Railways, but when Subrajit Paul asked him for his identity card, he did not provide it. After this, Subrajit Paul immediately handed over Kaushik to the Government Railway Police.
Legal action was initiated against both fake TTEs, a case was opened against them and they were sent to prison. Railway officials say such incidents are of serious concern for passenger safety and vigilance will be further strengthened to tackle such fraud. The Railway Protection Force and other concerned departments have also been instructed to be extra vigilant to prevent such cases.
