Quick story of Kartik Purnima in Hindi (Kartik Purnima ki katha in Hindi)

In mythological stories there was a demon called Tarakasur. He had three children, Tarakaksh, Kamalaksh and Vidyunmali. Tarakasura had created terror in the earth and sky, so the gods demanded Lord Shiva to kill Tarakasura. When Lord Shiva killed Tarakasura, all the gods felt very happy. But his three sons were very saddened to hear this and did penance before Brahmaji so that they could avenge their father’s murder.

Pleased with the penance of the three, Lord Brahma asked them for blessings. The three of them asked Brahmaji for the boon of remaining immortal throughout their life, but Brahmaji did not ask them for any boon other than this. Then the three imagined another blessing, this time asking Brahmaji to create three separate cities. He wanted everyone to be able to sit on it and travel through the earth and sky. When we unite after a thousand years and the three cities become one, then the god who can destroy the three cities with a single arrow will be our death. Brahmaji gave him this blessing.

On Brahmaji’s orders, Maydanav built three cities for him. There was gold for Taraksha, silver for Kamala and iron for Vidyunmali. Together they controlled the three states. Frightened by these three demons, Lord Indra took shelter of Lord Shankar. Listening to Indra Dev, Lord Shiva created a wonderful chariot to kill these demons.

Everything in this great chariot was made by the gods. The wheels were made from the Sun and the Moon. There are four horses in the chariot: Indra, Varun, Yama and Kuber. Sheshnag became the rope and the Himalayas became the bow. Lord Shiva himself should become an arrow and Agnidev should become the head of the arrow. Lord Shiva himself rode in this wonderful chariot. A terrible war broke out between the three brothers and the chariot made of gods. When these three chariots met in a straight line, Lord Shiva shot an arrow and killed all three.

After the murder of these three brothers, Lord Shiva was appointed Tripurari. The day when all this happened was Kartik Purnima day. Since then, Lord Shiva started being worshiped on the day of Kartik Purnima. Reciting this story on the day of Kartik Purnima brings blessings to Mahadev. Furthermore, the person who worships Goddess Lakshmi on the day of Kartik Purnima and recites this story, gets wealth and grains.
