President of Federation of Vehicle Dealers Associations (FADA), CS Vigneshwar said, “Since the beginning of Navratri, we have seen significant growth that is close to our planned target. During this period, 42.88 lakh vehicles were registered, up 11.76 per cent from 38.37 lakh last year.
6.03.009 passenger vehicles sold
Retail sales of passenger vehicles rose seven per cent to 6,03,009 units during the festive period this year, while the figure was 5,63,059 units in the same period last year. Vigneshwar said rising demand and unprecedented discounts available in the market have led to a revival in passenger vehicle sales after a slowdown. This year, in a period of 42 days, two-wheeler registrations increased by 14 per cent to 33,11,325 units compared to last year. Vigneshwar said strong rural demand mainly contributed to two-wheeler sales. During this period, retail sales of commercial vehicles increased by one per cent annually to 1,28,738 units. On the other hand, three-wheeler sales increased by seven per cent to 1,59,960 units. However, tractor sales declined two per cent year-on-year to 85,216 units, as against 86,640 units in the same period last year. FADA said the data was collected from 1,368 of 1,430 regional transport offices (RTOs) across the country.

Talking about October alone, wholesale sales of passenger vehicles increased marginally to 3,93,238 units annually. The industrial organization SIAM gave this information on Wednesday. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in October 2023 were 3,89,714 units. Total sales of two-wheelers last month grew 14 per cent year-on-year to 21,64,276 units, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement. While in October 2023 it was 18,95,799 units. Scooter sales rose 22 per cent in October to 7,21,200 units.
