In the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party is raising the issue of illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh and alleging that the state’s ruling party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and the Congress are promoting illegal infiltrators. Now Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Friday expressed concern over illegal infiltrators. He has directed the police commissioner to identify illegal immigrants and carry out a special drive for a month and also take action against them in coordination with central agencies.

Saxena also directed the Delhi chief secretary and civic agencies (MCD and NDMC) to remain “vigilant”. He has expressed fear that illegal immigrants may try to obtain false citizenship and voter ID documents.

Let us tell you that assembly elections may be held in Delhi early next year. In such a situation, this order of the lieutenant governor is important not only administratively but also politically because BJP leaders in Delhi accuse the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of providing protection to Bangladeshis and Rohingyas living illegally.

Lieutenant Governor expressed concern about illegal immigrants

The lieutenant governor’s office on Thursday wrote a letter to the Delhi chief secretary, police and MCD commissioners and the NDMC president. In this letter, the lieutenant governor’s office said that some reports from other reliable sources and social media suggest that there has been a sudden rise in the number of illegal immigrants in Delhi.

The letter sent by the Lieutenant Governor states that incidents of invasion by these people on sidewalks, public roads and parks have increased. There are reports that efforts are being made to prepare their identity documents such as voter ID, Aadhaar card, etc. on the basis of fake documents.

He further wrote that these illegal immigrants present these documents as citizenship documents. If they get the voter ID card, they will be given the most powerful right of democracy and then they will be able to vote. If somehow illegal immigrants get the right to vote. Therefore, this can also be a threat to national security.

The Lieutenant Governor gave instructions to them, including the Chief Secretary.

In the letter, he gave instructions to the chief secretary and said that it is necessary to be extremely vigilant in verifying people applying for identity documents. In this regard, he can issue instructions to the district magistrates through the divisional commissioner.

The letter said that the Commissioner of Police may also direct field officers to exercise extra vigilance while checking for illegal encroachers, especially on roadsides and vacant government lands.

The Delhi Police will launch a month-long special drive to identify illegal immigrants and take further action in coordination with central agencies, he said, adding that all government agencies should also ensure that no one is seen in public places in nowhere in the city. There should be no unauthorized occupation, as provided by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
