Dev Diwali was celebrated today with great pomp across the country. A large number of tourists from different places gathered in Varanasi to celebrate the Diwali of the Gods. As Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the Dev Diwali celebrations organized at Namo Ghat, the atmosphere resonated with the chants of Har Har Mahadev. During this, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present.

As soon as it gets dark, the 84 ghats situated on the banks of the Ganges in Kashi are illuminated with lamps. A total of 17 lakh lamps were lit. The colorful fireworks created a beautiful atmosphere in the sky. During this time, tourists enjoyed the picturesque view by taking cruises and boats in Ganga. On the occasion of Dev Diwali, the ghats of Varanasi were decorated with colorful lights. The paths leading to the ghats were also bathed in light.

The Gangetic Gate of Kashi Vishwanath Dham was the center of attraction for tourists. A large number of tourists came here to take selfies. In view of the crowd, strict security measures were taken. More than one lakh people participated in Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar started Dev Diwali by lighting the lamp at Namo Ghat. The grand fireworks began with the lighting of the lamp. The festival of Dev Diwali is celebrated on the day of Kartik Purnima.

It falls on the full moon day of the Kartik month of the Hindu calendar, which occurs a fortnight after Diwali. Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted his countrymen on the occasion of Dev Diwali. He posted on X: ‘Happy Kartik Purnima and Dev Diwali to all the countrymen. It is our wish that this auspicious occasion associated with the sacred tradition of bathing, meditation and donating lamps will illuminate the lives of everyone with happiness, prosperity and good fortune.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote in X: ‘Kashi, a religious city illuminated with the light of faith. May Baba Vishwanath and Mother Ganga bless everyone. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima and Dev Deepawali, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar participated in the inauguration program of Namo Ghat in Varanasi. On this occasion, there was a dignified presence of Governor Anandiben Patel and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Today, under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kashi’s Dev Diwali is spreading its aura on the global horizon.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his address during the Depotsav program organized at Namo Ghat said, ‘Today Kashi is becoming a new model of comprehensive development. What was the condition of Kashi Vishwanath Dham till 5 years ago? If 50 devotees had come here together, they would not have been able to have darshan. But now, if even 50,000 devotees reach Kashi together, then they can easily have darshan. And in the month of Sawan this figure reaches thousands of rupees.
