policy commission Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) India has partnered with Urban Company to empower women entrepreneurs. Under this pilot initiative, assistance will be provided to women entrepreneurs who run salons and beauty salons. This information was given in an official statement on Friday. According to the statement, WEP, under its Reward-to-Reward initiative, has launched the project on a pilot basis to support women MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in the beauty and healthcare sector to make grow their businesses.

These sectors identified

Women entrepreneurs will have access to skills training, legal and compliance services, finance, market and business development, as well as mentoring and networking. A study by Microsave Consulting identified four key sectors with more than 100,000 women MSMEs. These sectors are beauty and healthcare, textile manufacturing, retail, and food and beverage. The statement said this pilot initiative aims to develop a system to grow women-led MSMEs across the country by leveraging the experience and learning gained through the programme.

Urban Company will lead

The release says Urban Company will lead the program in collaboration with other key parties to identify women working in small businesses and support the growth of their businesses. NITI Aayog had created WEP in 2018 as an “aggregator” platform. It became a platform to work under a public-private alliance in 2022.
