Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday gave a payment of Rs 300 crore as bonus to the farmers of the state on the occasion of ‘Guru Nanak Jayanti’. The official statement said that the amount was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 2.62 lakh farmers. Saini said keeping the interests of farmers at the fore, the state government had decided to give a bonus of Rs 2,000 per acre to agricultural and horticultural crops produced in the state due to adverse weather conditions during Kharif-2024.
A total of Rs 1,380 crore will be released.
On August 16, the Chief Minister had transferred a bonus amount of Rs 496 crore as first payment to the accounts of 5.80 lakh farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Saini said that this bonus will be given to all those farmers who have registered on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal. A total amount of Rs 1.38 billion will be given to farmers. He said that so far two deliveries have been released under bonus. As the third payment, an amount of Rs 580 crore will be transferred to the bank accounts of the remaining 4.94 lakh farmers through DBT in the next 10-15 days.
soil health card
Taking another initiative for farmers, the Chief Minister started the distribution of 40 lakh soil health cards through WhatsApp. This step was taken to overcome the problems that arose due to the delay in printing the cards. Due to the delay in distribution of the cards, farmers were not able to implement the recommendations in time. Now, the soil health cards will be sent directly to farmers’ mobile numbers through WhatsApp as soon as the soil test results are “uploaded” on the online portal, he said.
