Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak expressed regret

At the same time, the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who is in charge of the Medical and Health Department, said in a post on X, the death of several newborns in the unfortunate fire accident in the NICU of the Medical College Maharani Lakshmibai of Jhansi is extremely sad and heartbreaking, Pathak said, instructions have been given to the district administration and concerned officials to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing. I am also arriving at the accident site. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the virtuous souls and speedy recovery to the injured.

A large fire broke out in the SNCU room

In fact, a massive fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (SNCU ward) of Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi on Friday night. In this, 10 newborn babies died from burns and suffocation. Chief Medical Superintendent Sachin Mahour said 54 children were admitted to the NICU ward and suddenly a fire broke out inside the oxygen concentrator. Efforts were made to extinguish the fire, but as the room was highly oxygenated, the fire spread rapidly. Many children were saved. 10 children died. The injured children are receiving treatment.

Army and firefighter vehicles participate in the rescue

As soon as information about the accident was received, fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene. The army has also been called up. Army and firefighter vehicles are dedicated to extinguishing the fire. There is chaos in the hospital facilities due to the death of 10 newborns. Eyewitnesses stated that around 11:45 p.m. smoke was seen coming out of the SNCU room, after which the people present there raised the alarm. But before anyone could understand anything, the flames began to rise. Soon the fire completely engulfed the room.

10 newborns died

Immediately after the accident, efforts were made to remove the newborns. However, the newborns could not be taken out due to smoke and flames at the door. However, after a while, when the firefighters arrived, they were able to remove the newborns. Until the time of writing the news, the bodies of 10 newborns had been removed from the room. At this time, rescue efforts continue.
