The Ministry of the Interior approved the creation of the women’s battalion
Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Taking a historic decision aimed at empowering women in the country and enhancing their role in national security, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the formation of the first women’s battalion of the CISF. CISF has been a preferred option for women who currently want to serve the nation in the Central Armed Police Forces.
The number of women force personnel in CISF is more than 7 per cent. The formation of the Mahila Battalion will further encourage ambitious young women across the country to join the CISF and serve the nation. This will give a new identity to women in CISF. Following the instructions of the Union Home Minister on the occasion of the 53rd CISF Day celebrations, the process of creating women battalions in the force was initiated.
Preparations for selection begin
The CISF Headquarters has started preparations for early recruitment, training and selection of headquarters location for the new battalion. The training is being specifically designed to create an elite battalion and equip the women of the force to provide security services at various places of duty such as VIP security, airport security, Delhi Metro Rail security, etc.
