In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year-old youth attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. The young man did all this live on Instagram. An alert was immediately sent to the UP Police from the social media platform Meta and the police saved the youth’s life with quick action. After 12 minutes, the police reached the town 9 kilometers away and took the young man to the hospital.
According to the agency, a 24-year-old youth from Bhudia village logged on to Instagram on Thursday night and started talking while taking sleeping pills. The Meta social media center gave an alert about this video and immediately informed the UP Police Headquarters about the matter.
Meta sent this alert with video and location to the police at 11:05 pm Following this, Shahjahanpur police received this information from the police headquarters at 11:17 pm. Taking immediate action as soon as the information was received, the local police team from Katra reached Bhudia village, 9 kilometers away, in just 12 minutes.

Regarding this, SP Rajesh S said that Google had given an estimate of 16 minutes for this route, but our team reached earlier. Police found the young man unconscious at the scene. He was immediately shifted to Katra Community Health Center (CHC), where he was saved after timely treatment. After treatment, the young man was discharged from the hospital.
According to the police, the young man was upset by his parents’ scolding, which is why he took this step. Police have recommended that the young man and his family receive counseling so that a similar incident does not happen again in the future. In this case, the Meta’s role in providing timely information to the police was important. A young man’s life was saved thanks to the real-time alert system of social media platforms and police surveillance.
