North India Weather Update, (Aaj Samaj), Lucknow: In many states, including the country’s capital Delhi, air quality remains poor. Apart from fog, cold weather has also hit almost the entire northern India. This morning there was fog in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi and most of the surrounding areas.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), rain and snowfall are expected in Uttarakhand from Sunday, so apart from the mountains, the cold may further increase in the neighboring areas of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the surrounding plains. There is a possibility of dense fog in the foothills of northern India and the Himalayas from Sunday to November 19. Dense fog is expected from Himachal Pradesh to the northeastern state of Sikkim until November 19.
Apart from many places in Delhi, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in many other cities of the country currently remains in poor and sometimes very poor condition. According to government organization Safar, the AQI was 404 in many places in Delhi this morning. The AQI of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in Lucknow was 266, Ahmedabad 195, Jaipur 278 and Patna 255.
