Mallikarjun Kharge expressed regret over this incident.

The Congress president wrote in an X-post through the social media platform that the news of the death of innocent babies in the accident at Jhansi Medical College is very painful. Our deepest condolences to the families of all the children who died in this heartbreaking accident. May God give their families the strength to endure this loss. Along with this, he further said that we demand from the government that the reasons for this accident be investigated and strict legal action be taken against whoever is guilty of such negligence.

This fire is said to have started due to a short circuit. At the time of the fire, 47 children were admitted to the ward. Of them, 10 died. While 37 were rescued. The rescued children have been admitted to different hospitals.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the state government over this sad incident. Akhilesh Yadav wrote on social media platform ‘X’ that the news of death of 10 children and injuries of many children due to fire at Jhansi Medical College is very sad and worrying. Emotional tribute for everyone.

He said the cause of the fire was said to be a fire in the “oxygen concentrator.” This is a direct case of negligence in medical management and administration or a poor quality oxygen concentrator. Punitive measures must be taken against all those responsible in this case. He further said that the Chief Minister should abandon the election campaign and “false claims that everything is fine” and focus on the poor state of health and medicine. Only those families who have lost their children can understand the pain and suffering. This is not only a government responsibility but also a moral one. We hope that those involved in electoral politics will carry out a real investigation in this time of family crisis.
