The first metro train scheduled for Delhi Metro Phase 4 operations arrived in the national capital on Friday, marking a significant development for Delhi commuters. The latest arrival event of metro trains in Delhi also marked an important milestone in the advancement of Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro. According to DMRC officials, with the completion of the fourth phase, connectivity in Delhi will increase and also provide world-class services to passengers.
According to Delhi Metro officials, the newly arrived train consists of six coaches, which will undergo a testing and certification process before starting operations on its route. Notably, DMRC will receive a total of 312 metro cars forming 52 metro trains for its Phase 4 priority corridors as part of the RS-17 contract.
The metro trains serving the national capital are designed for a safe speed of up to 95 kilometers per hour and are also suitable for driverless operation, in line with Delhi Metro’s efforts to provide modern and better services to passengers.
A DMRC official said the Delhi Metro Phase 4 expansion will add 86 km of new metro lines across five corridors, of which three corridors are currently under construction and two in pre-bidding stages.
The official further said that this development is a testament to India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative as these trains are manufactured in India and will give a boost to this initiative.
