Amit Shah’s bag was searched yesterday

Earlier on Friday, ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s election rally, Election Commission officials had also checked his bag at Hingoli. Responding to this, Shah later said that the Election Commission is checking the bags of leaders campaigning for the assembly elections. BJP believes in fair elections and a healthy electoral system and follows all the rules laid down by the Hon’ble Election Commission.

Bags of many leaders including Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde were also searched.

Election Commission officials are checking the bags and helicopters of leaders campaigning in Maharashtra. Election officials have described this as a step to ensure equal opportunity. The control of helicopters became a point of controversy and political confrontation after Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s bag was checked on November 11. Later, her bag was searched again in Latur. For a week, similar investigations were carried out on Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Nitin Gadkari and other leaders.
