The agrarian mafia fears neither fines nor orders from the High Court. A similar scene is being seen these days in Zamania tehsil village in Raghunathpur. Where around 61 people have encroached around 700 bighas of government land. An eviction order has also been issued against all these people. But the administration has not yet taken any action. Not only this, a fine of approximately Rs 70 lakh has also been imposed on all these people. The tehsil has also issued an RC to recover this fine. But so far neither the recovery has begun nor the encroachment on the land has been eliminated.

Zamania tehsil of Ghazipur which is situated on the banks of the Ganges and most of the villages and people here are settled on agricultural lands on the banks of the Ganges. In one such village, Jeevpur Diara under Raghunathpur, around 700 bighas of government land are under illegal occupation by people for over a decade. This occupation occurs on both sides of the Ganges, regarding which Dayaram Das, a resident of Raghunathpur village, who is also the representative of the village headman. He and many other people of the village had complained to the tehsil administration and the High Court seeking removal of this illegal encroachment. Based on the complaint, instructions were given to vacate said possession within 90 days of the year 2022.

61 people occupy 700 bighas of land

Following directions from the High Court, Zamania Tehsil had issued eviction orders against around 61 encroachers. Apart from this, a fine of approximately Rs 70 lakh was also imposed on all these people. But the tehsil is yet to take any action. According to the information, the Tehsil also issued an RC against all these persons in connection with the fine of Rs 70 lakh imposed. Despite this, the process of collecting the fine has not yet begun.

The High Court sought answers from the administration

The Zamania Tehsil administration had demanded police force to remove this illegal encroachment and had said that they would take action as soon as the demand for police force was available. During this time, the squatters learned that the administration can use bulldozers on the land they occupy at any time. So all the invaders went to the High Court. Subsequently, the High Court has sought a response from the Zamania administration on this matter.

On this matter, Abhishek Rai, SDM of Zamania, said that the administration was asked for police force to remove the illegal encroachment, but meanwhile all the illegal encroachers approached the High Court. Our response has been sought from the High Court on this matter. A reply will now be filed before the High Court on this matter and after that, action will be taken on the basis of whatever decision is taken by the High Court.
