Ayodhya. National Press Day was celebrated on Saturday at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Avadh University. MCJ convenor Dr Vijayendu Chaturvedi said the Press Council was established on July 4, 1966 and formally started functioning on July 16, 1966. This day is celebrated as National Press Day. He said that National Press Day reflects the empowerment of journalists and the presence of a responsible press. The media has a moral duty to tell the truth. Nothing but the truth. Currently, artificial intelligence has changed the methods of information and entertainment. Therefore, today the media and experts will have to be careful and cautious with the information.

Dr RN Pandey, faculty member of the department, said that there are many challenges before journalism. It is important to maintain your high ideals. The content of journalism must be of social and public interest so that it can become the voice of everyone.

Students of the department also enthusiastically presented their views in the program. Student Sugandha Tiwari said the press will have to act as a moral guardian. Gaurav Tripathi said that the press is considered responsible. Vivek Verma stated that the media should avoid biased news. Shagun Jaiswal asserted that the role of an independent and responsible press must be played. Sonika stated in the program that the Press Council acts as a monitoring body. Shambhavi Gupta said that the Press Council acts as an agency to monitor the media. Sneha Chaudhary said the erosion of press freedom is a matter of concern. It is necessary to overcome this. Neeraj Maurya stated that the Press Council makes one aware of the presence of an honest press. Karan Dubey stated that providing accurate and correct information to citizens is the religion of journalism. Mansi Shukla affirmed that freedom of the press must be maintained.

In the programme, student Niharika Singh said that protecting the values ​​of democracy is the first religion of journalism. Shivangi Pandey said that the ultimate duty of the media is to uphold the values ​​and ideals of democracy. Kamini Chaurasia stated that the first objective of journalism should be to create public awareness. Diwakar Chaurasia said the Press Council exists solely to protect freedom of expression.
