Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar reacted on the issue of jihad vote in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. He said on Saturday that BJP leaders are raising the issue of “jihad vote” to give a religious color to the elections. Sharad Pawar has accused Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his BJP colleagues of this.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar made this big statement while talking to reporters in Pune, Maharashtra. He left it to the public to react to Deputy Chief Minister and NCP (Ajit) chief Ajit Pawar’s comment that he would be next in line for leadership after Sharad Pawar. A day earlier, Devendra Fadnavis had called for a “religious war of votes”.
What did Sharad Pawar say on the ‘Vote Jihad’ issue?
Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Friday mentioned the ‘Vote Jihad’ appeal allegedly made by an Islamic scholar against the Mahayuti government. He also called for a “religious war of votes” to counter this. At the same time, when asked about Fadnavis’ appeal among voters, Sharad Pawar said it was the BJP leader who raised the issue of ‘Vote Jihad’.
Fadnavis made this comment while referring to minority support in some constituencies for the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faction during the Lok Sabha elections. Sharad Pawar said: “If Hindus are a majority in an area of Pune and they vote for the BJP, then this result is commonly expected.” This does not mean that it is a “jihad vote.” The head of the PCN said that he is completely against it.
Who will be the leader after senior Pawar?
Sharad Pawar said: ‘By raising the issue of jihad vote, Fadnavis and his associates are trying to give a religious color to this election. “We are completely against it.” During a rally in Khadakwasla, Pune, on Friday, Fadnavis had shown a video of Islamic scholar Sajjad Nomani. Meanwhile, the BJP leader claimed that he had raised the slogan of ‘Vote Jihad’.
