In Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly raped a minor after promising to marry her. Following the victim’s complaint, the police registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. Police say the accused has been arrested.
According to the news agency report, police said on Saturday that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a young man after promising to marry him. Police said the accused has been identified as Namvar alias Mani (19).

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aatish Kumar Singh said the accused (Namvar alias Mani) and the victim were in a relationship for the last one and a half months. The accused proposed marriage to the girl and allegedly raped her.
Defendant arrested Saturday morning
An FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. Singh said Mani was arrested on Saturday morning and the matter is being investigated. After this, strictest action will be taken against the accused.
