Neena opened up about this during a conversation with actress Kareena Kapoor Khan’s show ‘What Women Want’. Neena Gupta had auditioned for the 2020 Hollywood film ‘Tenet’ directed by legendary director Christopher Nolan. Neena said she auditioned for the film but was later rejected. After this, that role went to Bollywood actress Dimple Kapadia.
Did Dimple feel bad about getting the role?
In the 2020 Hollywood film ‘Tenet’, Dimple Kapadia played the role of Priya, the wife of a Mumbai arms dealer. Neena Gupta recalled her trip to Los Angeles to audition for this role. Neena Gupta said: ‘I auditioned for Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet in Los Angeles. I had previously recorded an audition tape here and sent it to him. They chose me and four other women. Finally Dimple got this role. He didn’t even have to go to Los Angeles.
Neena Gupta further said, “I always fail in auditions.” Auditions don’t work for me. If they hadn’t auditioned me, I would have done wonders. But no matter what I do, they will reject me. The actress said that she has accepted her rejection. She said: ‘It’s about the director’s image regarding that character. You can’t do anything about it. I thought I’d ask Dimple, “You haven’t even been there.”
How did Dimple get the film?
Earlier in an interview, Dimple Kapadia had told how she got the job in ‘Tenet’. The actress said she thought she had been pranked for an audition. He wondered why Christopher Nolan would want to include it in his film. However, he later auditioned and sent his recording to Nolan. Dimple had said that meanwhile Nolan came to India, in this situation she met the director and finally the actress got the job in ‘Tenet’. This movie was liked all over the world.
