The death of 10 children due to fire in the NICU of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi, is taken seriously by the government. After this accident, on one hand the Uttar Pradesh government ordered an investigation of all the hospitals, while on the other hand a high-powered committee was formed to investigate this accident. This committee will complete its investigation within a week and submit its report to the government. Although many points have been given for investigation, but mainly the committee has to find out how the fire occurred in the NICU ward and who is responsible for this accident.

Once the committee report comes, the government will take necessary action. State Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Medical and Education Department Principal Secretary Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, who reached the spot after the accident, have issued orders in this regard. After investigating the matter at his own level, he announced the formation of a committee. This committee will be headed by Director General of Medical Education and Training, Kinjal Singh. Along with him, the Director of the Health Department (Health) and the Additional Director of Electricity and officials appointed by the Director General of Fire Services will also be present in the committee.

Action against culprits based on report

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the culprit will be identified in the inquiry committee report and action will be taken against him. Likewise, once the cause of the accident has been clarified, the necessary measures will be taken to avoid such lapses in any other hospital or establishment. He said that adequate measures have been taken for proper treatment of the children injured in this accident. The government will bear all the expenses that this entails. Let us tell you that a fire broke out in the NICU of Maharani Laxmibai Medical College on Friday night due to a short circuit. 10 children had died in this accident. More than 30 children have been seriously burned. At the time of the accident, 54 children were admitted to this room.

Security control orders in all hospitals

Following the Jhansi accident, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered safety checks at all hospitals in the state. Under this order, orders have been given to prevent fire incidents in all hospitals, prevent fire situations and investigate other emergency arrangements. To this end, the presence of fire safety agents has been imposed in all districts. Fire safety officers also carried out investigations on Saturday at most hospitals. During this time the hospital management has been informed of the deficiencies. In this regard, a report compiled from all districts will be prepared and sent to the government.

Families of deceased children will receive financial help

In this sequence, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the children who died in this accident. Similarly, apart from an aid of Rs 50,000, it has been announced that the families of the children who were burnt and injured in the accident will receive full treatment at the government’s expense. Similarly, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the families of the deceased under the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund of the Central Government.
