A heartbreaking incident has come to light at a school in the city of Yixing, in China’s Jiangsu province. Where, a student attacked with a knife and killed 8 people. Local police said 17 people were also injured in the student’s attack.
Yixing city police confirmed the death toll and said the attack took place in the afternoon at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Jiangsu province. In many media reports it has been claimed that the attacker is none other than a student of the school, whose age is said to be around 21 years.
The accused had arrived at school after failing
A statement from the Yixing public security bureau said the 21-year-old suspect, surnamed Xu, was captured at the scene and confessed to the crime, state news agency Xinhua reported. According to the police, the accused had come to the school to express his anger over failing this year’s exam and not being satisfied with the internship salary.
A stabbing incident also came to light in May.
A knife attack incident was also reported at a school in the southern Chinese province of Jiangxi in early May. Two people died and 10 others were injured in this attack. However, at the time the incident occurred, it was unclear whether or not children were also included among the dead. Police said the attack was carried out by a 45-year-old woman, who used a knife to cut fruit. Police said in a statement on social media that the woman was then controlled by them.
Stabbings on the rise in China
In recent months there has been a significant increase in stabbing incidents in China. In August last year, a mentally ill man attacked people with a knife in a residential district in Yunnan, killing two and injuring seven others. A few weeks earlier, in July, six people, including three children, were stabbed to death at a daycare center in the southeastern province of Guangdong.
