On Saturday, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) seized oxytocin, a banned drug worth about Rs 2 crore, from Charbagh railway station in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh.

According to GRP, a case has been registered against Santosh Singh, a resident of Telpa in Chhapra district of Bihar and Ram Lotan, a resident of Chandi in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. This action was taken as part of the drive against smugglers being carried out on the instructions of GRP Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Prakash D.

According to the news agency report, it was reported in the official statement that a large consignment of banned drug oxytocin reached Charbagh through a railway parcel via train number 15053 from Chapra to Lucknow. During the search, 38 packages of prohibited drugs were seized in the parcel house.

In the initial investigation by the police, the names of both the accused came to light and an FIR was registered against them at the Charbagh GRP police station. Police have expressed fear that other people may also be involved in this smuggling and their search continues.

This campaign is an important step to curb smuggling of narcotics and banned drugs on railways. The police have also appealed to the general public to immediately share information about any suspicious activity with the authorities.
