We tell you that every year on November 16, National Press Day is celebrated in view of the important role that the responsible and independent press plays in society.
He said that even conscious citizens of the country sometimes become victims of fake news. Demonstrations, riots and dharnas occur even in developed countries due to incorrect information being provided. Therefore, any platform where there is fake news must also come under the scope of responsibility. There is a debate all over the world on this topic.

Vaishnav highlighted four challenges faced by the media and society today and said that traditional media is facing financial losses because news reaches faster through digital media than through traditional media.
Fake news is a challenge to society and the media.
Vaishnav said that although there is a huge investment of both time and money in building a team of journalists, training them, adopting editorial processes and procedures to verify the authenticity of news and taking responsibility for the content, this is inconsequential because these platforms have a very unequal advantage in terms of bargaining power over traditional media.
He said that the efforts made by traditional media in creating content must be compensated appropriately. Vaishnav said the rapid spread of fake news and misinformation is a challenge for society and the media.
He said this is a big threat not only to the media, as it reduces their trust, but also to democracy. Since platforms do not verify what is posted, a lot of false and misleading information can be found on virtually every platform. Even people who consider themselves conscientious citizens fall into the trap of this misinformation.
He accepted the contribution of the media in the emergency fight for freedom
On this occasion he recognized the contribution of media to India’s freedom struggle. Apart from this, the Union Minister also spoke about the contribution of the media in maintaining democracy during the dark days of the Emergency.
He said that the first struggle was a long one to achieve independence from British rule and the second was a struggle to save democracy during the dark years of the Emergency imposed by the Congress government.
He said we must not forget these struggles because history tends to repeat itself and those who forget have to face the same challenges again. That is why the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has decided to celebrate June 25 as ‘Constitution Assassination Day’.
