Curfew imposed in Imphal West district
Due to the law and order situation prevailing in the area, curfew has been reimposed in Imphal West district from Saturday until further orders. Earlier, authorities had relaxed the curfew from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm on November 16 as per order dated November 15. However, this relaxation order has been canceled with immediate effect.
The order states that people involved in essential services, including health care, will be exempt from the curfew. As per the order issued by Imphal West District Magistrate Kirankumar, now due to the law and order situation in the district, the above curfew relaxation order is canceled with immediate effect i.e. from 4:30 pm on November 16 until 4:30 pm PM A complete curfew has been imposed from 10:00 a.m. until further notice.
AFSPA will be imposed in these areas
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, with immediate effect, in six police stations in five districts of Manipur till March 31, 2025, to monitor the security situation in the security forces in the state affected by ethnic violence to maintain well-coordinated operations. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, AFSPA will be imposed in areas under the jurisdiction of Sekmai, Lamsang, Lamlai, Jiribam, Leemakhong and Moirang police stations in five districts of Manipur (Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur). . The ministry said this decision was taken after a thorough review of the security situation in Manipur in consultation with key stakeholders.
