Voting for the second phase of Jharkhand assembly elections will be held on November 20. Ahead of that, state Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday announced that the state’s highest award will now be called ‘Lord Birsa Munda-Lord Sido-Kanhu’. Soren said if the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government comes to power, a decision in this regard will be taken in the first cabinet meeting.

Hemant Soren also shared a post on social media platform ‘X’ regarding this announcement, in which he said, “The name of Jharkhand’s highest award will be ‘Lord Birsa Munda-Bhagwan Sido-Kanhu Award’. This decision was taken by the Abu government (his government) will be addressed in the first cabinet meeting.” He also said that this award will be a tribute to the brave martyrs of Jharkhand and a step towards the rich history of Jharkhand. The Chief Minister further wrote in his post, “May the brave martyrs of Jharkhand remain immortal. Jai Jharkhand.”

BJP wants to gain power in the state

Let us tell you that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is currently in power in the state and Hemant Soren is the Chief Minister. The party emphasizes electoral strategies and focuses on tribal and backward class issues. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is emphasizing on gaining power in the state through these elections. The party is trying to corner the state government on various issues such as employment, education and development work.

BJP accused of tarnishing the image of the State

Earlier on Wednesday, Hemant Soren accused the BJP of tarnishing his image and that of the state through false propaganda. Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleged that the BJP is spending crores of rupees on various social media platforms to campaign against the JMM-led alliance in the state and has created 95,000 WhatsApp groups. Referring to the BJP, Soren said, “Dictators may have billions of rupees, but I think it is better to stick to principles than achieve victory through unfair means.” These accusations were made at the time when voting was taking place in 43 of the 81 electoral districts of the first phase of the state.
