In Dharaon village under Jalalpur police station area in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman sold her own daughter’s newborn baby for three lakh rupees. Kailash Prajapati’s daughter Kavita got married in Bhadohi district. Kavita was about to become a mother. Her husband works in Surat. She had come from her in-laws’ house to her mother’s house for the delivery. For the delivery of her daughter, the mother admitted her to Jaunpur’s Pratap Hospital on October 25, where after the operation, the victim gave birth to a son.
After that, Asha and a few other women spoke to Kavita’s mother, i.e. the child’s grandmother, and talked about buying it for him and giving her three lakh rupees in exchange for the child. Kalyugi’s grandmother agreed to exchange her own daughter’s newborn son. After delivery, the victim was admitted to the hospital. On the other hand, the grandmother along with other people had sold the newborn for three lakh rupees.
The grandmother received 1 lakh 70 thousand.
After making a deal for the newborn for Rs 3 lakh, the grandmother received only Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand. Asha and other accused women divided the remaining money among themselves. Those involved in the purchase and sale of the newborn kept this fact hidden for approximately a week. After the birth, when the woman asked about her son at the hospital, the accused told her that he was not feeling well and that he had been admitted to the ICU of another hospital.

After this, when several days passed and the victim returned home after being discharged from the hospital, the accused Sita Devi returned to her house and told her that her son was sick and had died. Upon hearing this, the mother began to cry for a piece of her heart. The victim asked his mother about the child’s body and insisted on taking it. Later, the woman’s mother and the child’s grandmother said that she had sold the newborn child to a person residing in West Bengal for three lakh rupees, but she only got one lakh 70 thousand rupees. The accused Indrika Singh, Sita Devi etc. They divided the remaining money between them.
Case registered due to mother’s complaint
As soon as the mother found out that her own newborn son had been exchanged for three lakhs, the ground slipped from under her feet. She came to the Jalalpur police station crying and narrated her incident. Following the mother’s complaint, the police registered a case under serious sections in the horse trading case and arrested the accused Gorakhnath Choubey, Poonam Gupta, Henmati Sahu, Sita Pandey, Indrika Singh and Shanti Devi and the sent to prison. After this, the police recovered the newborn safely and handed it over to the mother.
