The United States handed over 1,440 unique estates to India

There are many beautiful statues throughout the country, but many statues were stolen and sold by thieves. The value of which has been estimated in millions of rupees. Some of these stolen statues made their way to the United States and were also preserved in the New York Museum. The United States has launched an initiative to return stolen items in countries in South and Southeast Asia. Under this, more than 1,400 looted artifacts worth $10 million (Rs 84 million), which were stolen from different areas of the country, have been returned to India.

According to media reports. Looted and stolen objects from India were returned on Wednesday to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in New York, USA. Among the recovered objects are many of these objects, which were recently displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. They also include a stone statue of a divine dancer, which was smuggled from central India to London and sold there.

Sculptures from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are also included.

Antiquities returned to India by the United States include a sandstone idol of a dancing goddess looted from a temple in Madhya Pradesh in the 1980s, which was stolen and taken to London. To smuggle this idol, the thieves had divided it into two parts. To facilitate its smuggling, both parts of this statue were later joined together and donated to the museum. Along with this is the green-brown idol of Tanesar Devi, looted from Tanesara-Mahadev village in Rajasthan in the 1960s. Who will be brought back to India soon.

The statue’s recovery process began in July.

In July, India and the United States began the process to stop the illegal trade and return the stolen antiquities to India. In September, the United States returned 297 stolen antiquities, which are approximately 4,000 years old, to India.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg said we will continue to investigate several trafficking rings that target Indian cultural heritage. The statement said that during Bragg’s tenure, the District Attorney’s Antiquities Trafficking Unit recovered more than 2,100 stolen antiquities from more than 30 countries, valued at approximately $230 million.
