Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar’s bag was searched at the Baramati helipad in Pune district of Maharashtra on Sunday. Pawar was on his way to Solapur to attend an election rally, during which his bag was searched by election staff. After this incident, there is a stir in political circles and opposition leaders have questioned the actions of the election officials. We tell you that there is voting for the assembly elections in the state on November 20 and the model code of conduct is in force.

Pawar left for the rally after the search.

Pawar’s aide said Sharad Pawar was scheduled to attend an election rally in Karmala, Solapur. When she reached the Baramati helipad, her bag was searched. After the search, Pawar Saheb boarded the helicopter and left for the rally. On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s bag was also searched in Amravati district on Saturday, raising further doubts about the said action. Former state minister and Congress MP from Teosa, Yashomati Thakur, raised harsh doubts over the action of the election officials. He asked, “Are the bags of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah or Chief Minister Eknath Shinde not checked?”

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Uddhav Thackeray also made a statement on the issue and asked election officials, “Are the bags of PM Modi, Home Minister Shah, Chief Minister also being searched?” Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis?” In this context, Thackeray shared a video on his social media account, which showed election officials checking his bag.

“BJP follows all electoral protocols”

During the election campaign in the state, politics around bag control has intensified. The BJP, for its part, has clarified that it believes in free and fair elections and follows all electoral protocols. In a post on ‘X’, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “BJP believes in free and fair elections and we follow all the rules.”

Currently, several videos have emerged in which election officials are seen checking the bags of other Maharashtra leaders like Shah, Chief Minister Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. This issue has heated up politics and opposition parties have presented it as a biased action on the elections.
