Mumbai Cricket Team: The Mumbai cricket team has named Shreyas Iyer as captain of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to be played from November 23 to December 15. Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw have also been included in the team. Rahane leads Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, the first half of which ended recently. Additionally, returning batsman Siddhesh Lad is also included in the team. Iyer is performing well in this Ranji Trophy season and wants to return to Team India.
Shreyas Iyer is in great form
In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Shreyas Iyer has scored 452 runs at an average of 90.40, which includes two centuries. All the hundreds he has scored this year are big centuries. This right-handed batsman played a quick innings of 233 runs (228 balls, 24 fours, nine sixes) against Odisha and then played an important role in Mumbai’s two consecutive victories by scoring 142 runs (190 balls, 12 fours, four sixes) against Maharashtra played the role. Once it sits in the crease, it is difficult to remove.
The last T20I match was played in the year 2023.
Shreyas Iyer played the last match for the Indian team in T20 International in the year 2023. He is also out of the Test team. He would like to perform well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has so far played 14 Tests, 62 ODIs and 51 T20 internationals for India.
Prithvi Shaw also had a chance
The team includes 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw, who was dropped from the Ranji Trophy team due to fitness and discipline issues. He will also be desperate to get his rhythm back. Spin bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian, who was part of India A’s unofficial Test in Australia, has also been included in the Mumbai squad along with experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
