In Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces on Sunday discovered and destroyed a secret hideout of terrorists in the Keller forest area. This action was taken during a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence information.
According to the report, during the operation the security forces discovered a secret hiding place within the forest, from where some utensils and items of daily use were recovered. However, the terrorists managed to escape from there before.
Secret hideout demolished
According to authorities, the operation began on Sunday morning. Intelligence information was received that terrorists have established their base in the area. When the security forces carried out a thorough search of the area, this hiding place hidden inside the forest came to light.
After destroying the hideout, security forces completely cordoned off the area and continued the search operation to ensure that there were no other suspicious elements in the area. Security agencies believe that it is clear from the recovered material that the hideout was being used to house terrorists and carry out their activities.
Officials said the objective of this operation is to weaken terrorist elements operating in the area and ensure the safety of local residents. It is noteworthy that Shopian district is one of the areas affected by terrorism in the Kashmir Valley.
