BJP delegation demands Gamaliel Hembram’s safety from State Election Commission

A party delegation led by Jharkhand BJP legal cell coordinator Sudhir Srivastava reached the Election Commission. The delegation submitted a memorandum to state chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar and demanded security for the BJP candidate.
‘Hembram and her relatives are in danger of death’
Sudhir Srivastava says JMM workers are threatening BJP candidate Gamaliyam Hembram and his family. He said that the CM himself is contesting the elections from the Barhet seat. It is unknown who is a JMM worker and who is the administration. He said that the management and workers together can make a big conspiracy, in such a situation, Hembram and his family members are in danger of death.

‘No security given to BJP candidate’
The BJP legal cell coordinator also said that there have been several clashes between JMM workers and Hembram supporters. This conflict can also take bloody forms. In this regard, the BJP candidate has expressed concern for his safety by posting a video. He had written a letter to the Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police Sahibganj, as well as Superintendent of Police Godda, seeking his safety, but no security has been provided to him so far.
Further, Sudhir Srivastava said that in the name of security, the two bodyguards given to Hembram were given to him only to discharge his duties, which is not enough, no security has been provided even in Hembram’s house, so that Hembram And a situation Concern has arisen for the safety of his family.
‘There could be a fatal attack on Hembram’
The BJP delegation has expressed fear that a deadly attack on Gamaliel Hembram could take place even before the elections. They may be harmed in one way or another. The delegation also handed over to the Election Commission a copy of the request regarding Hembram’s safety. On this matter, the Chief Electoral Officer has ordered an investigation and has also assured the delegation that immediate action will be taken.
All eyes on Barhet’s seat
The Barhat seat is also included among the 38 seats in the Jharkhand assembly, voting for which will be held on November 20 in the second phase. As of here, Chief Minister Hemant Soren is the candidate of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the third consecutive time. In the years 2014 and 2019, Soren beat Barhat.
However, this time the equation has changed, where the BJP has made Gamaliel Hembram the Barhet candidate against Hemant Soren, while BJP leader Simon Maltot has become a rebel after getting angry at being denied the candidacy. Switching sides, he left BJP and joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and supports CM Soren.
