Punjab Weather: As cold weather spreads in Punjab, the Meteorological Department has issued a fog alert. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum and maximum temperatures in Punjab on Monday are expected to be 17.03 degrees Celsius and 29.04 degrees Celsius respectively. The humidity level will be 23%. Today, November 17, 2024, the minimum and maximum temperatures of the day were 17.09 degrees Celsius and 28.19 degrees Celsius respectively. The relative humidity is 31% and the wind speed was 31 km/h. Talking about air quality, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Punjab today was 148.
More than 400 incidents of stubble burning occurred
More than 400 new incidents of stubble burning were reported in Punjab on Sunday, taking the number of such cases in the state this season to 8,404. This information has come to light from remote sensing data. The Punjab Remote Sensing Center said 404 new incidents of stubble burning have come to light, of which 74 took place in Firozpur, 70 in Bathinda, 56 in Muktsar, 45 in Moga and 30 in Faridkot.
Maximum incidents of stubble burning occurred in Firoz. According to the Centre, 966 and 1,155 cases of stubble burning were reported in Punjab on the same day in 2022 and 2023, respectively. There were 8,404 incidents of stubble burning in Punjab from September 15 to November 17, which is a 75 per cent decline in such incidents compared to the same period last year. There were 47,788 and 33,082 incidents of stubble burning in the state during the same period in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana after harvesting of the paddy crop in October and November is often blamed for the rise in air pollution in Delhi. (input language)
