Eight Naxalites were arrested in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh and explosives were recovered from them. The arrested Naxalites were planning to plant an improvised explosive device between the Usur-Techmetla road to attack the security forces. They were arrested by security personnel between Usur and Tekmetla villages during an anti-Naxal operation carried out by the District Reserve Guard and local police on Saturday, an official said.
The security personnel seized three tiffin bombs, cables and other material from Joga Madvi, Deva Sodhi, Guddi Madvi, Chula Hemla, Sukla Sodhi, Pyaki Madakam, Sukka Kunjam and Malla Midiyam. It is noteworthy that Naxalites are facing a tough response in Chhattisgarh as security forces have been carrying out continuous operations to eliminate left-wing extremism from CPI (Maoist) strongholds. A day earlier, five Naxalites were killed and two security personnel injured in an anti-insurgency operation in the Bastar region, taking the number of Naxalites killed in separate clashes this year to 197.
