After completing his first visit to Nigeria on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil to attend the G-20 summit. After arriving here, Prime Minister Modi wrote on social media platform X that he landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to participate in the G20 summit. I look forward to the summit deliberations and productive interactions with various world leaders.
In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil on Monday on the second phase of his three-nation tour, during which he will participate in the G20 summit. Announcing the arrival of Prime Minister Modi in Brazil, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the G20 Summit in Brazil. In this, pictures of Prime Minister Modi’s welcome at the airport were also shared.

PM Modi to participate in G20 summit
Prime Minister Modi will participate in the 19th G20 summit in Brazil as a member of the Troika. India is part of the G20 troika along with Brazil and South Africa. Along with Prime Minister Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Joe Biden will be among the leaders attending the Rio de Janeiro summit today and tomorrow (November 18-19).
In the third and final leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21 at the invitation of President Mohammad Irfan Ali. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in more than 50 years.
Building India’s heritage
Prime Minister Modi, in his exit statement on Saturday, said that this year Brazil has created India’s legacy. I look forward to a fruitful debate keeping in mind our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. I will also take advantage of this opportunity. They exchanged views on promoting bilateral cooperation with several other leaders.
The inclusion of the 55-nation African Union as a permanent member of the G20 and the drafting of a leaders’ declaration to overcome deep differences over the Ukraine conflict were seen as important milestones of India’s G20 presidency last year.
First trip to Nigeria in 17 years
During his visit to Nigeria, he held bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and interacted with the Indian community. Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Nigerian capital early on Sunday. This was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in the last 17 years.
After concluding the visit, PM Modi wrote in X: Thank you Nigeria for the meaningful visit. This visit will strengthen and encourage the friendship between India and Nigeria. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded his visit to Abuja, Nigeria, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on Twitter.
Prime Minister Modi awarded the honor of Grand Commander
During the visit, Modi received the national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) of Nigeria. He became the second foreign dignitary to receive this honor. In early 1969, this honor was awarded to Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain.
