The air quality (AQI) in and around the country’s capital Delhi reached very poor conditions. On Monday, Delhi’s overall AQI was recorded at 481, while in some areas the air quality index was recorded at 490 or more. Apart from this, Noida’s AQI was recorded at 384 and Gurugram’s AQI was recorded at 468. The pollution situation in these cities also remains serious, so health-related risks have also increased in the region from Delhi-NCR.

Fourth phase of GRAP-4 implemented

Due to this deterioration in air quality, the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), i.e. GRAP-4, has been implemented in the Delhi-NCR region. The scheme, constituted by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Environment Department of the Delhi government, aims to implement stringent measures to control air pollution, especially when the AQI exceeds 400. According to GRAP -4, Measures will be taken to stop construction work, take strict measures against dust blowing from the construction site, and reduce the number of vehicles.

Orange alert for fog in Delhi-NCR

At the same time, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense to very dense fog in and around Delhi on Monday and in view of this has issued an orange alert in the capital. According to the IMD, visibility may be reduced to 200 meters due to fog, which may affect road, rail and air traffic. Meteorological Department officials said that apart from fog, there is a possibility of smog during the day on Monday. The Department of Meteorology has asked the public to exercise maximum caution when driving on the road and to inform themselves in advance to avoid delays or inconvenience related to air and rail travel.
