Haryana’s Sonipat district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Manoj Kumar announced a holiday till fifth class in all schools in the district on Monday, November 18. This decision was taken due to the deteriorating air quality in the district. Dr. Kumar said that due to poor air quality, the health of children can be adversely affected, hence this measure has been taken with an aim to keep them safe.

Classes will be held online

It has also been made clear in the order that despite the holidays in schools, online classes will continue, so that there is no loss to the education of children. During this time, teachers will deliver the necessary materials and instructions to students for their studies through digital media.

The DC also said that this order will be applicable only for Monday, November 18 and the situation thereafter will be evaluated based on the air quality level. It has directed the administration of all schools to ensure compliance with this order and not be negligent towards the health of children.

The air quality index (AQI) in Sonipat district has been continuously deteriorating in recent times, therefore children and senior citizens are advised to take extra caution. The district administration has appealed to the population to avoid leaving home and leave home only with masks to avoid respiratory diseases. This measure has raised hopes of relief among the local population, because efforts are being made to ensure that nothing endangers the safety of children and their education.

Let us tell you that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Sonipat has reached 303. That means the air quality here is very bad. According to the CPCB, the AQI between zero and 50 is “good”, between 51 and 100 is “satisfactory”, between 101 and 200 is “moderate”, between 201 and 300 is “bad”, between 301 and 400 is “moderate” . ‘Very bad’, between 401 and 450 ‘serious’ and above 450 Considered ‘more than serious’.
