In Uttar Pradesh, the Board of Secondary Education (UPMSP) secondary and intermediate board exams in the year 2024 may be held later than last year due to Mahakumbh. The 2023 board exams started on February 22, 2024, but this time due to Mahakumbh, there is a possibility that the exam will start after February 26, 2025. Notably, the last Shahi Snan will take place in the bank Sangam on February 26, the day of Mahashivratri, which will attract a large crowd of devotees and may create traffic and security problems at the examination centres.
Mahakumbh effect and exam dates
This time the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj will begin on Paush Purnima Snan on January 13 and continue till February 26, where the last bath will take place on the day of Mahashivratri. During this time, thousands of devotees will gather on the banks of the Sangam and in such a situation, there is a possibility that the exam dates will be affected. Board officials are considering that the exam should begin only after the Mahakumbh, so that there is no disturbance in the crowd of devotees and preparations at the exam centres.
number of candidates
This time, 27,40,151 candidates will appear in the Uttar Pradesh Board Secondary School Examination, while 26,98,446 candidates will appear in the Intermediate Examination. Keeping in mind this large number of students, the board officials have taken this measure so that there are no problems in the conduct of the exams and the safety of the examination centers can be ensured.
Changes in the last five years
In the last five years, only in 2022 the exam was held in the month of March, while in other years the exam used to start at the end of February. This time too, in view of Mahakumbh and for security reasons, some changes may be made in the conduct of the exam. The Uttar Pradesh Board officials are currently considering all aspects and as soon as the situation normalizes after Mahakumbh, the dates of the board exams will be announced. The board will issue an official notice to inform the candidates and also their parents.
