Hearing on pollution issue in the Supreme Court

Air pollution in Delhi has reached dangerous levels. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday on the issue of rising air pollution in Delhi-NCR. During this, the Supreme Court raised questions on the Delhi government. The high court asked why GRAP was not implemented earlier. Why was GRAP-3 not implemented as soon as the Air Quality Index (AQI) level was above 300? The Supreme Court asked that AQI had crossed 401 on November 13, but why was GRAP-3 implemented after three days?

A bench comprising Justice Abhay S Oak and Justice Augustin George Masih conducted the hearing. On November 14, the amicus had demanded an early hearing before the Supreme Court on the dangerous pollution in Delhi, stating that we are in a serious situation today. The government has not yet taken any concrete measures. We must not allow Delhi to become the most polluted city in the world. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court scolded the state governments for rising pollution and said nothing will happen unless a strict decision is taken in the matter related to pollution.

Grap-4 implemented in Delhi from today

Let us tell you that air pollution in Delhi has reached dangerous levels. An AQI 481 was recorded on Monday. In view of this, GRAP-4 has been implemented from today in Delhi. It was decided to implement GRAP 4 after the AQI reached 450 on Sunday, but this morning the situation worsened and the AQI was recorded at 500 and close to many places including Dwarka and Najafgarh. The situation of NCR is also similar. The ICA was recorded at 384 in Noida, 400 in Ghaziabad, 446 in Gurugram and 336 in Faridabad. In Delhi, online classes are being conducted in schools up to class 9, so the government may take a decision on work from home for employees.
