New Delhi. Air pollution in the national capital Delhi has started directly affecting people’s lives. Due to increasing air pollution, the sky has become visible. Visibility has reduced significantly in Delhi and NCR. Vehicles move slowly on the roads. Smog has seriously affected rail and air traffic.
More than 28 trains arriving at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations faced delays of between two and nine hours on Monday due to air pollution and low visibility. Due to dense fog, rail and air traffic is affected in Delhi. Visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport was also significantly reduced. More than 160 flights, including 118 departures and 43 arrivals, were delayed at Delhi airport at 8.30 am due to poor visibility, Flightradar24 reported.
According to the website, departures have been delayed an average of 22 minutes. In the morning, seven flights were canceled due to low visibility at the airport. Due to smog in Delhi, more than 28 trains arriving at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations faced delays of between two and nine hours on Monday.
Passengers heading to other cities were seen waiting outside the stations. Meanwhile, Indira Gandhi International Airport has issued an advisory urging passengers to contact their airlines as low visibility procedures have been implemented due to deteriorating air quality. According to this notice, passengers are advised to keep in touch with airlines for information on flight status and possible changes to their travel plans.
