Mumbai Assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra in two days. Before this election, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised the people to remove the 50 per cent limit on reservations and conduct a caste census in the country. He described the caste census as the biggest problem. Along with this, he termed the November 20 assembly elections as a battle of ideologies. The Congress leader said projects worth Rs 7 lakh crore, including those of Foxconn and Airbus, were shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat, resulting in youth in the state losing jobs.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi said that caste census is a big issue before us and we will achieve it. This is our central pillar. He further said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state will protect the interests of the people. Investigating the BJP, the Congress MP said, the entire political machinery was put in motion to help one person in the Dharavi redevelopment scheme in Mumbai.
Rahul Gandhi mocked BJP’s slogan ‘Ek hai to safe hai’. He accused the BJP of prioritizing the interests of industrialist Gautam Adani over those of the people of Maharashtra. He brought out a poster of Prime Minister Modi and Gautam Adani at the press conference and said that as long as they are together they will be safe. In another poster, he showed the map of Adani Group’s Dharavi redevelopment project and said it is a symbol of Mumbai’s wealth. He further said that the redevelopment of Dharavi is inappropriate. This is done only to benefit one person. We have no idea how the tenders are awarded. All the ports, airports and money in the country are being handed over to one person.
