New Delhi. On November 15 and 16, the third Hans literary festival concluded at the Rajendra Yadav Memorial Ceremony i.e. ‘Hans Sahityosav’ at Bikaner House, New Delhi. Literary writer Usha Priyamvada delivered a speech at the beginning of the literary festival. Recalling the inspiration and encouragement of Rajendra Yadav and Mannu Bhandari in his journey through literary life, he briefly expressed his reflective thoughts and said that today’s writers do not follow conventions but value their feelings and keep social relations in mind. Usha Priyamvada, Sanjay Sahay and Priyadarshan inaugurated the book ‘Tota Maina Ki Kahani’ written by Madhuresh and published by Vani Prakashan on the creative work of Rajendra Yadav and Mannu Bhandari.
In the first session, senior writer, novelist Vibhuti Narayan Rai, critic Vinod Tiwari and Sanjeev Kumar had a stimulating discussion on post-19th century Hindi literature: how many pauses, how many changes. This session was conducted by Vaibhav Singh. In the second session, eminent poet and critic Ashok Vajpayee, writer and critic Sudhish Pachauri, Gopal Pradhan and Garima Srivastava had a serious discussion on contemporary Hindi literature – the influencing ideologies and philosophies. Directed by Pallava. In the third session, well-known writer Mridula Garg, famous Neo-Hindi writer Satya Vyas, critics Devendra Chaubey and Ravi Singh held an important debate on the dead end of commercialism and Hindi literature. This session was led by Faheem Ahmed.

The drama of Mannu’s daughters fascinated me

After the discussion and debate session, the drama Mannu Ki Betiyaan written by Priyadarshan was performed in the evening under the direction of renowned theater director Devendra Raj Ankur, former director of NSD. The stage was operated by Aditya Shukla and Rachna Yadav, CEO of Abhar Prakash Hans. There was a strong presence of young people, including writers, intellectuals, avid literary readers from literature, journalism, theater, cinema, art and other diverse fields. On November 16, the second day of Hans Sahityotsav, many entertaining and thought-provoking sessions were held. During this two-day event, discussions were held on Hindi literature and cinema and their social impact on various fields. Speakers related to literature and cinema expressed their opinions on different topics.

Discussion on abuses on OTT too

The session organized on the theme ‘Kahani ki Maang o Masala’ was full of excitement. Storyteller and senior thinker Uday Prakash, filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, TV journalist Dibang and storyteller Vaibhav Vishal participated in this session. This session was conducted by Irfan. The speakers present at this session said that what is shown on OTT is actually a reflection of our society. But speakers also said attention must be paid to the appropriateness of these abuses, whether they simply become a means to make money by luring people.

‘Social Networks or Asocial Networks’

In the session organized on the topic ‘Social Media or Social Media’, writer Mamta Kalia, storyteller and journalist Vishnu Nagar, media expert Vineet Kumar and poet Avinash Mishra expressed their views. It was directed by Kinshuk Gupta. Mamta Kalia said that only the evils of social media are seen, while people get many benefits from it. Social media has provided new ways to connect with people and view and understand society. Vineet Kumar said that nothing is black and white, there are also many gray areas in these social networks. Om Thanvi said that cinema has reached every home through OTT, but there are still no high-quality movies available to the people. Even today we have to look for films by world-class directors. The issue of obscenity and censorship in cinema was also raised, on which Avinash Das and Shubhra Gupta expressed their opinions.
