The Congress has sought the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the violence in Manipur. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the situation is not improving in Manipur. Our demand is that the country’s Minister of the Interior resigns. Jairam Ramesh told a press conference that Manipur is burning since May 3. Prime Minister Modi went everywhere except Manipur, but he did not go to Manipur.
Ramesh said our first demand is that Prime Minister Modi visits Manipur before the Parliament session. Get to know the parties there. Get to know social organizations. Go to the relief camp. He also met the party delegation from Manipur. At the same time, our second demand is that Prime Minister Modi calls an all-party meeting in Manipur. The Congress general secretary said there will be no full-time governor in Manipur from July 31, 2024.
‘Why is the Home Minister saving the failed CM?’
Before this, there was a distinguished tribal governor, the reason for her removal reflects her mentality. For the last eighteen months it seems that Prime Minister Modi has left Manipur to the Home Minister. Why has the Home Minister turned a blind eye to the failure of the Manipur Chief Minister? BJP MLAs are resigning, but the Home Minister is saving a failed CM.
We also demand that if the BJP and the Central Government really and honestly want to take action against the drug mafia, why is the case still pending? Use National Investigation Agency (NIA) but nothing happens.
Amit Shah to hold review meeting today
According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold an important meeting in Manipur and review the situation there. On Sunday, the Home Ministry took stock of the security situation in Manipur. On Saturday, the Home Ministry had instructed all security forces deployed in Manipur to take necessary steps to restore peace. The situation in Manipur remains tense after the bodies of women and children were recovered from the Barak river. A large number of soldiers have been deployed to areas affected by the violence.
Why did violence break out in Manipur?
People were angry after three dead bodies were found in the river in Jiribam, Manipur. Angered by this incident, people went to the houses of ministers and BJP members, but when they came to know that the minister was not in the state. Following this, angry people carried out incidents of vandalism and arson at the house. People demonstrated in Imphal against violence. In view of the situation, curfew has been imposed in areas of Imphal. Internet was cut off in seven districts. The militants allegedly killed them after kidnapping them.
